I’m in way too many “site-relationships”. You know, your obligations to keeping up your member profiles: adding pictures, blocking ex’s, giving daily status updates, job title changes, relationship status and all that garbage my old man thinks nobody should be sharing. You create such a relationship with sites like facebook, LinkedIn, twitter, etc. that it turns into a responsibility then your asking yourself why the hell am in in this and how did I get here? That’s a “site-relationship”. I’m in too many right now, and I’m cutting it down to 5, with a possible Wikipedia page in the near future.

Why do we feel the need to be so connected?

I guess it’s just human nature to be desired ,”friended” or “followed”. The most friends is a game I see some play everyday on Facebook, it gets pretty ridiculous. If your a TV show, entertainer, celebrity etc. hey that’s your business, but to friend people just for the purpose of making your friend stats go up is exactly what got this economy in the trouble it’s in. Pure greed and narcissism! So I will overhaul all I don’t talk to. Out of my 310 friends, honestly 100 can go and won’t be ever missed. Sorry people but its true. I can do without my buddies girlfriend’s college roomate’s little brother I met when they came out for drinks on a weekend trip to NYC. I mean really. He was cool and we talked about the upcoming NBA playoffs and the Jay Cutler mess but to friend me 20 minutes after we met is a bit annoying. Pre-facebook I would never see that guy again in my life, hear about him unless he blows something up, or even really care about how his life went, but since Facebook has come along, we are linked. He sees my life unfold and I see his. I know it is crazy ain’t it?

Each profile gets no more than an hour of attention

Starting tommorow I will be updating my member profiles. I hope to have all five done by Sunday nite. I’m always updating someone on something at least a few times a day that it’s become what my current status really is, “Updating my status is what I’m doing”. Part 2 will be posted on Monday night, so root for me because I gotta second round of profiles next week - Hotjobs, Monster, CareerBuilder, etc. I will make a conservative effort to get everything on the same page. With woman googling you as soon as you meet them you better have your “t’s” crossed and “i’s” dotted in this town…
