Chrysler Newsletter - D.R.I.V.E. detail

A great project that I was referred to by a great friend of mine in the industry. This was a job I took on hoping it would lead to bigger and better things, but when you’re contracting with a company that is accepting a government bailout to just keep their head above water, good luck. A fun project nonetheless…

The Challenge
This was a complete makeover from the semi-annual newsletter they used in the past. The client was looking for a more modern “look” to coordinate with the event’s theme of basketball centered goals.
The Process
I wanted this piece to be unique, so a design full of stock images and vector art just wouldn’t do. I hired a buddy of mine Ted Adams who is an award winning illustrator to drum up some custom art. He put together some great looking corporate basketball ballers in suits. It fit in really well with the design.
The design – I intended it to be bright while making a great use of typography with extra large images. It allowed for the text to just flow without being too overbearing to read.
Final Product
Chrysler was very pleased with their newsletters. Too bad that they have suspended the program and event I worked on. See, the recession effects designers too…
